Hello. It's me, Kats. Kathryn, if you want to be formal. I've been an enjoyer of arts and crafts, on and off, pretty much all my life. I go through various phases and usually come back around to everything again eventually. 

I got pretty into figure drawing for a while, never stick in that phase long enough to actually study anatomy properly though. Maybe next time.

Honestly, most of the time when it's art I'm fancying, it's paints I reach for. Generally watercolour or acrylic and it's mostly nonsense forest scenes I paint when I don't have something in particular in mind.

I also love sketching with soft pastels and, more recently, getting my hands stuck into clay. It's super satisfying seeing something you carved and molded with your hands come to life.

Anyway, getting off track a little there. The point is, I really like making things and I like to think I'm pretty creative. Eventually, I sort of accumulated enough stuff that I thought, 'maybe I could sell it?' and here we are.

So what is tonkatsart?

The name originally came into this world as 'tonk.kats' on Instagram back in 2022? Or it could have been very early 2023. But it I picked the name for an art account that I intended to just dump my art on but mostly just forgot about it.

Then, at some point, it became 'tonkatsart' very briefly on etsy before I swiftly closed that shop down and moved it over to Ko-Fi (which is still open, btw. Just now it's only for digital products.) before I just decided at the end of 2023 to get my own website and here we are almost a year later.

I worry that maybe I should have at least attempted to niche down and stick to a sort of theme or concept but I knew that would never stick with me over a long period of time, so the plan is to just make what I want and just hope people like it.
